BYD has received a conditional license to test autonomous driving (L3) on expressways

Chinese electric car giant BYD has announced that it has received a conditional license for Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving on expressways. BYD received its first license in China in July, according to an official Weibo account, Reuters reports.

Earlier in December, BMW Group said it had obtained a license to test L3 autonomous driving on expressways in Shanghai, while Mercedes-Benz will conduct L3 tests on certain highways in Beijing.

IM Motors, the electric vehicle brand of state-owned Chinese automaker SAIC Motor, has also applied to China’s Ministry of Industry for approval to produce vehicles with L3 autonomy.

China’s BYD will build a new plant for the production of electric vehicles in Hungary
