HP brought the new Omen Transcend 14 laptop to CES 2024, which it calls the world’s lightest gaming laptop. According to its weight and dimensions, this model is closer to ultraportable laptops than to gaming ones.
Omen Transcend 14 weighs about 1.6 kg. It’s around 50g heavier than the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 70g lighter than competing superportable gaming laptops like the ASUS ROG Zepyrys G14. Sufficient performance for games is provided by 14th generation Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 processors, up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, an SSD with a capacity of up to 2 TB and an RTX 4070 video card.
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop is equipped with an OLED panel with a resolution of 2.8K (2880×1800 pixels) and a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen supports HDR with a maximum brightness of 500 nits, 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum.
Despite its compact size, the device has two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports (one of which supports Thunderbolt 4), as well as a full-size HDMI 2.1 connector on the back. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 modules are responsible for wireless communication. The system includes a pair of DTS:X Ultra speakers and a built-in Cloud III wireless headphone module. So you don’t have to use a USB port to connect them. The keyboard has RGB lighting.
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop will go on sale at a price starting at $1,600.
