Given the war in Ukraine, this visit was not officially announced.
In the near future, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Stephane Sejournet, will visit Ukraine. He is already “heading to Kyiv,” writes the French publication Le Figaro, citing sources.
During his visit to Ukraine, the new head of French diplomacy is scheduled to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky. It is noted that this meeting was planned back when the French Foreign Ministry was headed by Catherine Colonna. But due to rapid changes in the French government, Séjournet will take her place at the meeting.
It is not specified when exactly the French minister will arrive in Ukraine. According to his entourage, Sejournet is already “heading to Kyiv” to demonstrate to the Ukrainians support for France against the backdrop of Russian aggression.
New French Foreign Minister
As wrote, a new government was appointed in France this week. 34-year-old Gabriel Attal became the new prime minister. The first openly gay person in this position in the country’s history. In addition, he is also the youngest head of government in the modern history of France.
Stéphane Sejournet became the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. What is notable here is the fact that he is not only openly gay, like Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, but was married to him under French law. Their marriage lasted from 2018 to 2023.
