Along with the announcement of the Galaxy S24 line of smartphones, Samsung has expanded its commitment to releasing OS and security updates for these devices.
The company says it will offer 7 generations of Android OS updates and 7 years of security updates with these devices. This is a significant increase in the previously announced support terms. In 2022, along with the announcement of the Galaxy S22 series, the company committed to releasing 4 generations of One UI and Android updates, as well as offering security updates for 5 years.
Samsung says it is committed to “extending the product life cycle” and “helping users enjoy the optimized performance of their Galaxy devices for even longer.” The new policy begins with the Galaxy S24 series and does not apply to previous smartphone lines.
