For the world’s most powerful satellite Internet speed, you will have to pay a one-time fee of $1.25 million — and in the future, subscriptions will start at $75,000 per Gbit/s per month.
The service, called Community Gateways, will offer Internet with download and download speeds of 10 Gbps and latency of less than 99 ms (for comparison, standard Starlink network speeds range from 100 to 400 Mbps).
For $1.25 million, SpaceX will not just send the terminal, but will help create an entire complex. The proposal is designed primarily for Internet providers who are looking for ways to introduce high-speed broadband in remote regions.
In September, the company announced that it had built the first Community Gateway complex for residents of Unalaska, a city located on an island near Alaska. Local ISP OptimERA now uses a satellite connection from the gateway to boost broadband for most customers.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk announced in his recent speech that the Starlink Mini terminal is being prepared for release as early as 2024 — and it will be so compact that it fits in a backpack.
In 2023, SpaceX responded to 96 successful missions, safely flew 12 more astronauts to orbit, received two flight tests of Starship, and more than a longer number of people around the world connected to @Starlink.

The Federal Communications Commission approved SpaceX’s application to use MacBook-sized Starlink mini-terminals back in September, but the company has remained tight-lipped about the product. There is no price, specifications or image either.
As for the “standard” next-generation Starlink terminal, orders for the product started back in November. The cost of the equipment is also $599, but the production itself, as Musk hinted, is already cheaper (it used to be about $3,000 per unit, but the company has been constantly reducing production costs, which, in particular, involved opening a new plant in Texas).
Earlier, Musk announced that Starlink has become unprofitable – in 2020 he announced an IPO of the satellite Internet business, when revenue growth will become smooth and predictable.
