The developers of the Telegram messenger released several new features as part of the January update. Many of them are focused on working with video and audio messages.
In September 2023, Telegram added the ability to send photos and videos with the option of viewing them once in a private chat. The company is now extending the feature to voice and video messaging. Users can click on the microphone icon to start recording and then click on the single view icon. That way, the recipient will only be allowed to listen to the voice message or watch the video once.
In addition, Telegram is introducing the ability to pause and resume recording voice and video messages through the same menu.
Telegram is also adding the ability for users to see when a recipient has read their messages in their own chats. This feature can be turned off in the settings.
Several innovations have also appeared for users of the paid version of the service. One of them is the ability to hide information about reading time, but continue to see the reading time of your interlocutor, if they share such information. In addition, users of the paid version of the service can choose who can send them messages first. They can choose either “Everyone” or “My Contacts and Premium User”.
