Despite the fact that the number of Starfield players exceeded 13 million last year, it seems that few of them are interested in a physical copy of the game. Walmart will stop selling physical copies of Starfield in the next few weeks. By the February 5, 2024 deadline, the price of a physical copy of Starfield will drop to a paltry 3 cents.
However, unofficial information, several sources in the X network are talking about this – but independently of each other and referring to the company’s internal documents, the photos of which are attached. As of Monday, January 22nd, a physical copy of Starfield is still on sale for $69.89. in the Walmart online store.
I have this memo earlier as well (not because of this exact screenshots) – Walmart will switch Starfield Xbox physical papers from their establishments, but you can get very nice and get it for 3 cents on Monday (the me the purchase)

Starfield was released in September 2023 and quickly gathered millions of users. However, reviews of the game on Steam have since dropped to moderately negative. The main thing that the game is accused of is the empty spaces of the planets and monotonous gameplay.
Physical media sales have been steadily declining for years. It was previously reported that Best Buy has stopped selling DVDs and Blu-rays of movies. It looks like physical games will suffer a similar fate to Walmart. Over the years, even Microsoft’s hardware has become more focused on digital gaming. Microsoft called the updated Xbox Series X, which was leaked last year, “adorably all-digital,” which upset Reddit users.
In 2023, 99% of the revenue from computer games consisted of digital copies. On consoles, 17% gave away games on physical media.
