Communication operator lifecell filed a lawsuit against another operator Vodafone Ukraine. The company demands that the court oblige PJSC “SF Ukraine” to stop providing “Number Saving” services. The lawsuit was filed with the Economic Court of Kyiv.
According to the court documents, lifecell believes that the “Number Saving” service violates the requirements of current legislation, violates the right to provide electronic communication services and the right to receive profit. The court accepted the claim for consideration and opened proceedings in the case, according to the Resolution of the Commercial Court of Kyiv. The preparatory meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2024 at 4:10 p.m.
As a reminder, Vodafone positions the “Number Saving” service as a way to control your number and protect against fraudulent activities.
“If you want to protect your number from unauthorized transfer to another mobile network using the number porting service, we recommend connecting the “Number Saving” service,” the operator says on its website.
It should be noted that in December of last year NKEK (the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the spheres of electronic communications, radio frequency spectrum and the provision of postal services) fined the Vodafone operator due to the refusal of 37 subscribers to switch to another network while keeping their number. The amount of the fine was UAH 68,000.
However, Vodafone did not agree with this decision and started the process of challenging it in court.
