Electronic eSIMs are gradually replacing physical SIM cards. To increase the popularity of this solution, Google decided to focus on providing an eSIM migration tool available to all Android users.
One user of the new Galaxy S24 Ultra was setting up his device and was able to transfer his eSIM from his old device by scanning a QR code. The source even managed to get a screenshot of the window that will appear on the Pixel 8 Pro when transferring the eSIM from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and vice versa. This is likely to be a standard feature on more eSIM-enabled smartphones in the future.
It’s also worth noting that with One UI 5.1, Samsung released its own SIM transfer tool, but the process of transferring an eSIM from one Android device to another was limited to Galaxy smartphones only. However, it has now been revealed that these features are now available on more devices. Although eSIM porting is currently only possible for T-Mobile users, this capability should become a universal standard in the future.
