The Uklon service announced the launch of a new feature in its application. From now on, routes with a walking part are available to users. When creating an order, the user is offered an alternative route option, where it is necessary to walk a little from the car to the destination, saving time and the cost of the order.
Now this opportunity is available only in Kyiv. Before offering it to the user, the offer is checked by the Uklon service to make sure that such a route is appropriate — it will be faster and more profitable to walk to the final point than to go around. The maximum distance that the user suggests walking is 500 m. If the total trip distance (from the boarding point to the final point) is less than 2,000 m, then no walking routes are offered.
“We monitor the local transport situation and, accordingly, do everything to offer our users options that will meet their needs – to move around the city comfortably and affordably. With a lot of data, we can predict that in some situations (such as traffic jams, inconvenient locations, etc.) it will be faster and cheaper to walk a little to the final point than to drive around. By offering a new option, our user will be able to choose whether it suits him,” said Volodymyr Andrienko, VP of Data&Research.
To use the new function, the “Walk a little” option will appear in the Uklon program when placing an order and if there is an alternative walking path. By clicking on it, you should choose one of the two proposed travel options – drive to the end point or, alternatively, walk part of the way. By choosing the second option, the route will be rebuilt.
After successfully completing the order, a screen will open with a proposal to build a walking route from the point of disembarkation from the car to the final point of the route using map applications.
It is noted that the function of walking routes is available only when calculating the cost of an order, it is not available when changing an active order.
