Russia’s victory in the war it launched against Ukraine is unacceptable for Europe. Therefore, European countries must be ready to support Kyiv, regardless of whether the United States of America does so.
According to European Truth, this statement was made in a speech during a visit to Sweden by French President Emmanuel Macron. He noted that a number of decisions have already been made to increase defense production.
“Firstly, we must be ready to defend and support Ukraine, no matter what happens and no matter what the US decisions are. There is a good chance that the US will continue to be our partner. But we must clearly understand that Ukraine is part of the European continent. And whatever the United States does, we must make the right and courageous decision to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” Macron said.
He stressed that it is impossible to allow Russia to win this war, since such an ending would mean that “the security architecture on our continent no longer exists.”
“What will be the future of the countries of NATO’s “eastern flank” and Europe as a whole, the Caucasus, the countries of Central Asia, if the result of such large international efforts (to support Ukraine – ed.) is a Russian victory? – added the French leader.
Help to Ukraine: latest news
The Netherlands has allocated 122 million euros to help Ukraine. The vast majority of the funds – 87 million – will be used to purchase 155-mm artillery ammunition for Ukraine. Another 10 million euros will go to strengthening Ukraine’s cyber defense.
At the same time, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that without approval of assistance to Ukraine, all the achievements of its defenders would be in jeopardy. He stressed that US lawmakers’ approval of additional funding is “vitally important” for Western partners to step up and do everything necessary for Ukraine’s success and Russia’s defeat.
