Since the Vision Pro went on sale last week, the expensive augmented reality headset has been seen in all sorts of unusual places, from the gym to airplanes. However, after one owner was spotted wearing a headset while driving a Tesla Cybertruck on the highway, US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg issued a warning, reminding people to use common sense.

In a post on X (Twitter) along with an excerpt from the original video, Buttigieg reiterated that “ALL modern driver assistance systems available today require a human driver to be in constant control and fully involved in the driving.” Similarly, Apple’s headset comes with a slew of warnings advising users not to use it while “driving a moving vehicle” or in “any other situations requiring attention to safety.”
Following Minister Buttigieg’s publication, the creator of the original video, Dante Lentini, told the media that the footage was a “parody” made with friends, and that the headset was only worn for 30-40 seconds while driving. In addition, Strychka claims that the footage showing him being arrested was staged in this ruse.
It is important to note that the Cybertruck comes standard with the Tesla Autopilot system. But this feature is not yet activated for the first wave of Founder’s Edition cars. This means that Lentini was driving the highway with a headset on his head without the help of any advanced driver assistance systems.
