According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is working with Mattson Tomlin to create another series from the Game of Thrones universe – the writer previously participated in the creation of Matt Reeves’ Batman, and also co-wrote the 2025 sequel.
Tomlin also wrote the Kean Reeves action comic BRZRKR and the Netflix animated series The Terminator.
The series, which is essentially a direct prequel to House of Dragons, will tell the story of Aegon AND Targaryen’s bloody and brutal conquest of Westeros. The events will take place approximately 130 years before most of the events of House of the Dragon, which is almost 300 years before the events of the original Game of Thrones series.
Since the final series of Game of Thrones aired in 2019, several prequels and at least one sequel have been developed, although some are already considered inactive. At the moment, the first season of “The House of the Dragon” has been released (the second is expected this summer), and this year the development of “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” – a series based on George R.R. Martin’s novels about the Knight Duncan (Sir Duncan the High – later Lord – commander of the Kingsguard) and his squire Egge (later King Aegon V Targaryen).
