It turned out that Google’s new artificial intelligence tool Gemini does not quite correctly reflect some historical figures and groups, such as the founding fathers of the United States or German soldiers of the Second World War. Users have discovered that some of these people are depicted with a skin color that is not typical for them. As a result, social media began to spread conspiracy theories and accuse Google of deliberately avoiding the portrayal of white people or gender-swapping.
For example, in response to a request to create an image of a “US senator from the 1800s,” Gemini in some cases produced results that included black and Native American women. The first female senator was a white woman in 1922, so Gemini II’s depiction effectively erased a history of racial and gender discrimination.
Google itself denies the accusations and says that this generation of images is caused by the fact that its AI model creates different images of different people because it is used by people from all over the world. Therefore, in some cases, inaccuracies may occur in historical images.
We can see that working on the addresses of the latest works with Gemini’s image generation feature. When we do this, we are going to pause image generation of people and will re-release an improved version soon.

Google apologized for such erroneous images and said it plans to fix the situation. In the meantime, the company is suspending the ability to create images of people with Gemini.
“We are already working to resolve the recent issues with the Gemini imaging feature,” Google said in a statement. “While we’re doing this, we’re going to pause the creation of human images and will re-release an improved version soon.”
Now, when trying to create an image of a person using Gemini, the II model gives the following response:
“We are working on improving Gemini’s ability to create images of people. We expect this feature to return soon and will let you know in release updates when it does.”
