It is still unknown when Apple Vision Pro will appear in official retailers, so now the ball is in the field of “gray” sellers who bring the “technology of the future” (© Tim Cook) as close as they can.
Sales of the Vision Pro in the US began on February 2, 2024. The US is still the only country where the Vision Pro can be bought officially: prices start at $3,499 (before taxes) for the minimum configuration with 256 GB of memory, the cost of the version with 512 GB of storage is $3,699, and 1 TB is $3,899. Gadgets are still brought to Ukraine and other countries by overbuyers who, of course, set an immodest markup. At the same time, over the last week, prices for Apple Vision Pro in Ukraine have gone down.
If at the start of sales in early February for the Apple Vision Pro, Ukrainian marketplaces and electronics stores, on average, asked for UAH 210,000, then as of February 22, you can find offers cheaper than UAH 170,000 (about $4,400 at the current exchange rate), which confirm the data of the Hotline and E-Katalog Ukraine price aggregators.
This is the minimum configuration with 256 GB of built-in memory (512 GB or 1 TB are more expensive, but they have lost something in price). The cost of the maximum version with 1 TB of memory now reaches UAH 250,000. It is worth noting that this is not a pre-order with a full pre-payment, the headsets are apparently “in stock”, so the device should be issued/sent on the day the order is paid for.
Apple made a lot of noise with the release of a “spatial computer” in the format of a ski mask – with the start of sales, social networks were filled with memes and funny content from “people from the future” who used the headset in a strange way – in various public places (subway, restaurants or just in the middle of the streets), gyms, driving a Tesla with Autopilot on and while walking Patronus dog robots At the same time, interesting and close to reality demos were also enough – from the more obvious (viewing movies, games, music, photos) to scenarios such as programming and multitasking and window tracking and a bunch of other highlights (but not the ones you thought of , so far without 3D porn, only the usual flat one on the VR screen). Quite an interesting coincidence – the downward trend was emerging against the background of news of massive returns of Apple Vision Pro in the second week of sales. In social networks, users indicated discomfort when wearing the headset due to its large size and excessive weight, insufficient autonomy, inconvenience when performing work tasks, lack of support for individual files and a limited application library in general as the main reasons for returning.
Apple has not yet announced the date of the start of Apple Vision Pro sales in other countries — the distributor of Apple in the Ukrainian market “Asbis-Ukraine” has not yet informed retailers about the date of official deliveries, so when the “white” ones will appear in Ukraine and how much they will cost, so far one can only guess. Even if you put aside the limitation (for full use you need an American AppleID) and the warranty issue, the “gray” Apple Vision Pro has another, more significant drawback – it comes with about 30 different gasket pads that ensure the proper fit of the device, taking into account individual features of the shape of the person. This means that when buying from non-officials, the chances of guessing and not spoiling the impression of using a new product are extremely low.
