Elon Musk published a new video with the Tesla robot – but it seems that it was “filmed” back in the 2000s

The clip, posted by the billionaire on Saturday at X, was of such low quality that it looked like it was shot on a phone that was current two decades ago.

At that time, the video had been viewed by more than 30 million users, however, as Gizmodo notes, after half an hour, Musk did replace it with a video with a higher resolution. (Interestingly, edited tweets usually show a note at the bottom about the correction and the time it happened, but Elon’s note doesn’t).

Meanwhile, users competed fiercely under the post with the robot, offering their own options as to why the video turned out to be of such poor quality:

The previous video with Optimus, which was posted by Musk, was also noted – then the engineer who controlled the robot’s movements was “lit” in the video.

It’s been a little over two years since Elon Musk announced that Tesla was moving toward the development of humanoid robots. The company rolled out prototypes pretty quickly — and so far we’ve seen one assembled model barely moving and another standing on a stand waving at the audience. At the same time, in the promo that followed the presentation, the robots walked more confidently and interacted with the environment.

In December, Tesla (also still only on promo) introduced the second generation of robots – it was reported that Optimus received two degrees of freedom in the neck, integrated electronics and wiring, as well as more human-shaped legs with articulated parts of the fingers and torque sensors. The robot’s hands are equipped with 11 degrees of freedom, faster actuators and tactile sensors on all fingers to manipulate objects (the skill was demonstrated on chicken eggs in the video).
