Dozens of ads for Apple headset rentals have appeared on Chinese sites such as Alibaba Group Holding’s Xianyu and Zhuan Zhuan, the South China Morning Post reported.
The Vision Pro is now officially available only in Apple stores in the US, starting at $3,500, while rental prices in China start from $13 per hour to $200 per day. Some ads require a deposit of at least $4,000, others offer the option to purchase the device after the lease.
Beijing-based virtual reality startup Vision Space, which also rents out the Vision Pro, said one of its stores received more than 10,000 orders after the device hit the US market, with people lining up to use it.
Although Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that the headset will be available in China “soon,” an exact release date is still unknown. However, the headset rental business is likely to face problems as the company itself offers 30-minute demos in its stores.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, prices for “gray” Apple Vision Pro began to decrease — offers appeared cheaper than UAH 170,000.
