The development of GTA VI is approaching the finish line and Rockstar is asking employees to return from remote mode to the office for the usual five-day work week from April. An update on the status of one of the most anticipated games of our time was shared by Bloomberg, which has a copy of the internal letter to employees.
As GTA VI enters its final stages of development, the game will require even more dedication and effort from the team. That’s why Rockstar management considers it appropriate to return the developers to the office for five days – both for reasons of productivity and from the point of view of safety, given the previous showers of the game’s materials, which caused the publisher losses of five million dollars and “thousands of hours” working hours of employees (in December of last year, the culprit was indefinitely committed to a psychiatric hospital). By the way, before that, Rockstar noted that the large-scale leak of gameplay and source code of the early assembly of the game in the fall of 2022 GTA 6 and other incidents did not greatly harm the business and it will not affect the game development schedule.
In the official letter, Rockstar mentions the “tangible benefits” of teamwork in the office, which, according to the management, will allow to ensure the development of GTA VI “at the appropriate level of quality” and to fulfill all points of the development plan. And how can we not mention the previous words of the leader of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnik, about the new creative standards for the series, the game industry and the entire entertainment market, which the developer of GTA VI seeks to achieve.
GTA VI is due out in 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S – a PC version has not yet been announced. The game has every chance to become the most expensive in history (the budget is estimated at $1-2 billion) and Rockstar very much expects to earn $8 billion with its help in the 2025 fiscal year. The GTA VI announcement trailer, released in December 2023, has garnered 178 million views on YouTube, making it the second-most viewed video game trailer of all time. If development goes according to plan, there’s a good chance for a new GTA VI release sometime in the summer or fall, don’t you think?
