Google has announced three features for its Chrome browser to “improve” search engine suggestions. The third is particularly interesting — it is an attempt to improve the search engine’s performance with a “bad” Internet connection, although it is not entirely clear to what extent.
1. Search suggestions based on what others are searching for
In the Google Search window in Chrome, the user will see suggestions related to previous queries based on similar things that other users are searching for. For example, if you recently searched for Japchae, other popular Korean dishes will come up with suggestions.
2. Show more images for suggested searches
Chrome used to show in the address bar only those images for search suggestions that corresponded to the specific product that was searched for, for example Isanti dining table (Isanti dining table). But what if the user doesn’t have a specific table in mind, but knows they want something bohemian? On Android and iOS, Chrome will now show helpful images for broader shopping categories and products based on simpler searches, such as bohemian table.
3. Search suggestions even with bad connection bad connection
Chrome on Android and iOS has received improved capabilities on devices that will provide search suggestions even when the network connection is poor. This also means getting more incognito offers.
