5 more projects that Apple “killed”.

It recently became known that Apple has stopped its decade-long effort to create its own car, codenamed Project Titan – the technology giant was working on creating an electric car with autonomous driving functions. But this is not the first time that Apple abandons projects.

Apple Paladin multifunctional device

The Apple Paladin combined a computer, fax machine, scanner, and telephone — all in one product. As you can see in the photo of the prototype, the device had a screen and a mount for a telephone handset. The project was discontinued in the mid-1990s for unknown reasons.

Apple

MFP based on the Apple WALT phone

First introduced in 1993, Apple’s WALT phone (short for Wizzy Active Lifestyle Telephone) was another combination of devices, this time built around the phone.

The unreleased phone featured a touchscreen, caller ID, an internal address book, and a stylus. It provided access to online banking, handwriting recognition, and ringtone settings. Only a few prototypes were built before the project was terminated.

Charging mat for several AirPower gadgets

The AirPower wireless charger, capable of powering three devices simultaneously, was introduced with the iPhone X in 2017. The launch was scheduled for 2018, but was delayed due to heating problems. The delays caused much speculation about its fate until Apple discontinued AirPower in 2019.

MagSafe charger

Apple introduced a line of MagSafe wireless chargers in 2020. A few years later, images of an unreleased MagSafe product known as the Magic Charger began to circulate on the Internet. It was a nice metal stand with an integrated MagSafe washer that allows you to charge the iPhone in a vertical position. It’s unclear what happened to the project, but there are plenty of other MagSafe stands on the market.

Apple

TV

Apple spent more than a decade developing an ultra-high-definition TV before canceling the project indefinitely in 2015.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the tech giant decided it would struggle to stand out from competitors like Samsung despite features like a clear glass screen with a laser image.

Instead, the company focused on the development of the AppleTV media player. The Apple TV streaming platform is currently in full swing.
