The Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will come on four discs, developer Larian Studios explained. This is the first Xbox Series X game to be released on such a large number of discs.
The Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be installed with 4 discs, so that 500mb is beyond the limit for 3. The only possibility will be to spend some content out but that didn’t make sense, so confirming 4. Updating here:

“The Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will indeed be 4 discs as we exceeded the 3 disc limit by 500MB. The only option would be to cut some of the content, but that doesn’t make sense, so we’re confirming 4,” Larian Publishing Director Michael Dawes confirmed on Twitter.
Because of this, Baldur’s Gate 3’s March 25 Xbox release date will likely be pushed to the first week of April, Dawes warned. Larian will ship each version in order of availability from PC first. “The absence of discs makes life easier,” he added.

As previously announced, the PS5 version comes on two discs, while the PC version comes on just one (it includes a special installer and comes with a Steam key).
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion, was the first Xbox Series X game to be released on three discs when it went on sale last December.
Larian Studios will add official cross-platform mod support to Baldur’s Gate 3
