The Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said that Ukraine has started official consultations with US and EU regulators, as well as the Civil Aviation Administration of Israel regarding the resumption of passenger air transport.
“There are not many examples of airports in the world where drones or missiles can arrive at any moment. Israel is the most successful. We spent a lot of time and spend a lot of time in consultations with the Civil Aviation Administration of Israel,” Kubrakov said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
At the same time, it is too early to talk about any terms. Currently, Ukraine “conveys to the US and EU regulators its vision of the operation of the market under martial law, as well as risk assessment, approaches and algorithms,” the minister added.
Some unnamed European companies are already interested in the potential opening of airports in Ukraine and want to be the first to enter the market. Negotiations are also underway with three Ukrainian air carriers.
Back in June of last year, Ukraine discussed the possibility of opening the Lviv airport, and in July Ryanair representatives held negotiations with the managers of the Boryspil airport regarding the resumption of flights after the end of the war.
In April, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation published a forecast for the development of the aviation industry until 2029, which stated that restrictions on flights over Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova will remain in place for almost 7 years.
