Insider Kopite7kimi has shared some new details about NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. He previously claimed that the flagship of the line would get a 512-bit memory bus, but a few months later this information was denied in favor of 384-bit information. Now, Kopite7kimi talks about the 512-bit variant again, without going into details. NVIDIA is probably considering different variants of the memory specification, which causes the appearance of different information from insiders.
I think my persistence is correct.

More importantly, Kopite7kimi claims that the new GeForce RTX 50 series will use GDDR7 memory with a bandwidth of 28 Gbps, which is significantly ahead of the capabilities of GDDR6X. That said, NVIDIA will still have plenty of room for future upgrades, as GDDR7 memory is capable of speeds in excess of 32Gbps.
28Gbps.

The 3GB GDDR7 modules will most likely not be used in the first wave of the RTX 50 line. However, it is known that they are in development and should be introduced next year. Therefore, NVIDIA will be able to release video cards of the middle and entry level, for which the possibilities of creating new variants of the amount of memory will open up.
Even if NVIDIA sticks to the existing memory bus width on its next-gen gaming graphics cards, it will still result in significantly higher bandwidth thanks to the faster GDDR7 memory. However, if NVIDIA does go with the 512-bit variant, it will mean that the new GPU will support even more memory and provide almost 80% more bandwidth than the AD102.
The post also mentions that the GB203’s GPU may be half that of the GB202. At the same time, it has not been confirmed (nor denied) that the GB202 GPU uses a multi-chiplet package. The current flagship AD102 boasts 80% more cores than the AD103. This took the RTX 4090(D) GPUs to a whole other level of performance. If NVIDIA takes a similar approach with the Blackwell series, we could once again see a significant performance gap between the RTX 5090 and 5080 models, especially given the rumors circulating about a 512-bit memory bus.
