Disney and Pixar will release a sequel to Pete Docter’s Oscar-winning animated film about 11-year-old Riley and her five emotions.
This time Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger will be joined by several new emotions, symbolizing the girl’s transition from childhood to adolescence.
“Headquarters in Riley’s head faces a sudden eviction to make way for something utterly unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have been working together successfully for a long time. Therefore, they do not know what to feel when anxiety appears. And, it seems, she didn’t come alone,” the synopsis says.
Anxiety is an unstoppable energy that enthusiastically makes sure that Riley is prepared for every possible negative outcome. Envy, even if it is small, but knows exactly what she wants – she is always jealous of everything that others have, and is not ashamed to yearn for it. Handra gives Riley the perfect amount of teenage apathy when she feels she needs it, and Confused likes to lay low, which isn’t easy for this stocky, ruddy-faced boy.
“Puzzle” received positive reviews from critics and audiences and earned $858 million at the global box office, and at the 2016 Academy Awards, it was recognized as the best animated film. The continuation of the cartoon was announced in 2022 at the Disney D23 Expo.
Puzzle 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann (“The Good Dinosaur”), with Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first part, serving as the screenwriter.
In the original, the characters are voiced by Amy Poehler (“Turkeys: Back to the Future”), Phyllis Smith (“The Office”), Lewis Black (“Rock Dog”), Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things”), Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”) and other.
The cartoon will be released in Ukrainian cinemas on June 13.
