The extras lived in different regions of Ukraine and communicated with each other via the Internet. The organizer distributed responsibilities among the performers, and the latter formed databases of hacked accounts and put them up for sale on the darknet.

According to operational information, the customers of criminals in the shadow segment of the Internet were mainly fraudulent groups. These communities purchased compromised accounts for use in various fraudulent schemes, including Friend Asking.

Law enforcement officers conducted 7 searches at the places of residence and registration of the persons involved in Kyiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as Kyiv, Donetsk, and Kirovohrad regions. More than 70 pieces of computer equipment, 14 phones, bank cards and cash, including more than $3,000, were taken. A petition was sent to the court to seize the seized property.

Investigators declared suspicion against three members of the group under Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 5 of Art. 361 (Unauthorized interference in the work of information (automated), electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to 15 years in prison.

Currently, the police have sent a petition to the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect.

The version of the cooperation of those involved with the agents of the aggressor country is also being worked out, since the stolen accounts, in particular, were used to conduct IPSO in favor of Russia.
