For the first time, an update on the actor’s schedule was published by Daniel Richtman, whom IGN calls a “reliable insider.”
Richtman noted that Pedro Pascal has completed work on the series, despite the fact that filming of the second season will continue until August 2024. The rumors sounded even weirder from the fact that the production itself, as announced by showrunner Craig Mazin, was supposed to start only on February 12.
At the same time, HBO denied the information that Richtman provided about Pascal.
Pedro Pascal played one of the main roles in the first season – the strict smuggler Joel, who accompanies the teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsay) on a “journey” to the post-apocalyptic USA. The actor became the star of the year according to the IMDb website and was awarded the SAG Awards 2024 as the best actor in a drama series.
The debut season of the show, based on the events of the PS3 game The Last of Us released in 2013, consisted of 9 episodes, which continuously broke ratings records during its broadcasts. Subsequently, “One of Us” achieved the title of the series, the most watched on HBO of all time, and was nominated for 24 “Emmy” awards (as a result, the series received 8 trophies). The show’s renewal was announced two weeks after the final episode aired on March 1. And already in August, the co-authors announced as many as 4 seasons for the post-apocalyptic show.
HBO also unveiled a new team of directors joining the second season of One of Us — led by Marc Mylod, who worked on The Heirs and Game of Thrones. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman continue as showrunners and executive producers of the show.
The sequel will adapt the second game in the series The Last of Us Part 2, and the action will take place after the traumatic events at the Santa Barbara hospital. The character of Abby, who will be played by Caitlin Deaver (Education, No One Will Save You), will also appear here.
HBO also announced that the second season of The Last of Us will not be released until 2025.
