Last year, the three countries produced a combined 32.8 million barrels of oil per day, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

Together, the US, Russia and Saudi Arabia account for 40% of the world’s oil production – and have consistently dominated it since 1971, only temporarily displacing each other from leadership positions.

By comparison, the combined output of Canada, Iraq and China is projected to reach 13.1 million barrels per day in 2023, slightly exceeding that of the US alone.

Neither country is projected to top the U.S. oil production record set last year — as no other producer has ever topped 13.0 million barrels a day — any time soon. Saudi Arabia’s state-owned company Saudi Aramco recently abandoned plans to increase production to 13.0 million barrels per day by 2027.

In 2024, analysts predict that the United States will retain its position as the leader in oil production. U.S. oil production is expected to reach a record pace of about 14 million barrels per day by the end of the year, according to Macquarie Group.

On the positive side, as the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, reported, thanks to drone attacks on Russian refineries, it was possible to reduce both production and oil processing by 12%. Oil is the main source of income for the terrorist country, which uses the same money to sponsor the war against Ukraine.

Rosstat also reported that in the week from March 18 to 24, gasoline production in Russia fell by 7.4% compared to the previous week and amounted to 107.8 thousand tons per day (compared to the same week last year – this is a decrease of 14.3%).

As Reuters wrote yesterday, due to a reduction in domestic supplies and unscheduled repairs at oil refineries, Russia is increasing the import of gasoline from Belarus. In the first half of March, it reached almost 3,000 tons (in February, Russia imported 590 tons, and in January there was still no supply from Belarus).
