Kyivstar on the results of the 2nd quarter of 2022: growth in operating income, despite a decrease in the subscriber base

The Kyivstar telecom operator summed up the results of the second quarter and the first half of 2022. It is noted that in the first half of 2022, 230 new base stations were built and more than 3,000 existing base stations were upgraded to the 4G standard. In the first half of 2022, the operator invested UAH 1.692 billion in network development.

The number of mobile subscribers in the second quarter of 2022 amounted to 24.8 million, which is 4.3% less than in the same period of the previous year. At the same time, total operating income from mobile services increased by 4.5% to UAH 6.9 million.

The number of subscribers using the Kyivstar TV service increased by almost 84.9% compared to the 2nd quarter of last year. And the number of subscribers using 4G mobile Internet increased by 11.9%. The volume of mobile Internet consumption per subscriber also increased on average – from 6.2 GB in Q2 2021 to 7.9 GB in Q2 2022. The number of broadband access subscribers remained almost unchanged (-0.4%) and amounted to 1.2 million. However, operating income from broadband services decreased by 9.8%.

The total operating income of Kyivstar in the second quarter of 2022 amounted to UAH 7.4 million, which is 3.9% more than in the same period of the previous year. For the first half of the year, the operator received a total operating income of UAH 15.2 million, which is 9.4% more than in the first 6 months of 2021. For half a year, the company transferred more than UAH 5.7 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget.
