Tesla driver could not charge his Model S in -7°C, but the video of the failure made the motorist popular on TikTok (it collects millions of views)

A Tesla electric car owner has become popular on TikTok after posting a video of himself unsuccessfully trying to charge his Model S at a Supercharger station in freezing weather.

Domenic Nati, a radio host from Virginia, tried to charge his Tesla Model S last Friday before the holiday weekend, but ran into problems. It is reported that at that time the temperature outside was about -7°C.

Nati claims that he first tried to charge at home in vain, then drove to a local Supercharger. After connecting, the car gave a message that it was warming up the battery in preparation for charging. But the process could not be started.

During his failed attempts, the driver filmed a video, which he later published on TikTok. The clip received about 750,000 views and made the author popular on the social network. Other videos of the author are now gaining millions of views.

Nati says he contacted Tesla and reported the problem, but has yet to receive a response.

Some attribute the failures to normal charging problems during frost. Low temperatures do affect the speed of the process, but the fact that it did not start at all is not normal.

The battery needs a warm-up time and Tesla has created a function that allows it to adjust for charging in advance (if the driver enters the address of the station in the navigator). In the case of Nati, the problems seem to have arisen precisely in his car, and rather indicate malfunctions in the work of the car manufacturer’s service center, which did not respond to the problem for a long time.

Earlier, a video of another Tesla car owner went viral. Mario Zelaya from Canada was unable to get into the blocked car due to a faulty battery and recorded a video on TikTok where he talked about the problem and recommended “never buy a Tesla” – the video has received 17.4 million views.
