This is not the first experiment of Russian Post with drones. In the fall of 2021, they were supposed to be tested in places with poor communication and difficult conditions.
Now the company wants to run a longer experiment. The head of the Russian Post said that this would be done on an “industrial basis.” Heavy drones with a flight range of 300 to 400 kilometers and a carrying capacity of 50 to 150 kilograms will take part in the experiment. These devices can work where there is no Internet.
The head of the company also believes that someday light drones will replace postmen. He also said that the Russian Post is already testing Yandex robots for the delivery of goods.
In 2018, the Russian Post conducted tests of a drone for delivering parcels in Ulan-Ude. Then the drone crashed into the nearest house.
