Back in mid-February, the Sennheiser management announced that it wants to give its divisions more independence, and the consumer business generally intends to sell. The buyer of the core assets in the amount of 200 million euros was the Swiss company Sonova Holding AG.
Sonova reportedly ranks among the world leaders in the hearing aids and implants market, so the topic of wearable speakers is close to her. The buyer, under the terms of the contract, will be entitled to use the Sennheiser trademark in the production of speakers and headphones. So these devices will not disappear from stores. If the Sonova deal goes through all the required approval phases, then the actual transfer of assets will take place at the end of this year.
Sennheiser employs around 600 people in its consumer products business and generated € 250 million in revenue last year. The transfer of Sennheiser personnel to Sonova will be coordinated with the union. Swiss investors intend to finance the deal with their own funds. The parent company Sennheiser will focus on the professional solutions market after divesting the consumer business, which sees good growth potential.
