Asus, well known to gamers for its ROG series devices, has unveiled an updated family of gaming laptops. One of the new products is the ROG Zephyrus M16, built on a powerful processor and equipped with advanced display and acoustics.
The ROG Zephyrus M16 is powered by Intel’s new 10nm 45W Octa-core Tiger Lake-H processor. It is reported that the laptop will only be available with a Core i7, but the exact chip marking has not been revealed. The processor in Zephyrus M16 will work in conjunction with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards, up to RTX 3070. The device will use DDR4-3200 RAM, the maximum amount of which can reach 48 GB. SSDs connected via PCIe 4.0 interface with a maximum capacity of 2 TB will be used as drives.
The developers paid special attention to the screen. In the ROG Zephyrus M16, it is represented by a 16-inch matrix with WQHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels) and one hundred percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. The response time is only 3 milliseconds and the refresh rate reaches 165 Hz. Thanks to thin bezels on four sides, the screen occupies 94 percent of the panel surface, and the size of a 16-inch laptop is equal to 15-inch models.
ASUS claims the immersive gaming experience will be achieved with a speaker system consisting of six powerful speakers with Dolby Atmos support. They are complemented by an array of AI-based noise canceling microphones.
The ROG Zephyrus M16 has a rather austere design. ASUS itself focuses on this, stating that the laptop was designed with the needs of not only gamers in mind, but also professional users who need a powerful and portable workstation that can easily replace a productive desktop PC. It was from professional laptops that the possibility of opening the top cover by 180 degrees migrated to the novelty.
The ROG Zephyrus M16 features dual USB-C ports with support for Display Port 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. One of the connectors supports the Thunderbolt 4 interface. In addition, the device is equipped with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports. Users also have access to a microSD slot, HDMI 2.0b, RJ45, 3,5mm audio jack and a Kensington lock. Autonomy is provided by a 90 Wh battery.
For all its merits, the ROG Zephyrus M16 boasts a very compact size. The device is 19,9 mm thick and weighs 1,9 kg. The cost, as well as the timing of the start of sales, ASUS has not yet named.
