This was stated by the deputy head of the information security department of the central bank Artyom Sychev. He claims that the Bank of Russia is currently working on a bill that will increase the share of the return of funds stolen by criminals. For example, there will be an automatic blocking of a suspicious amount on the account of the alleged fraudster.
The central bank is thinking about this because fraud with the accounts of Russians is on the rise. Only 11,3% of the stolen money can be returned. Most often, scammers use social engineering, and the victims themselves provide the criminals with the necessary data.
Sychev also said that the time of blocking suspicious accounts plays an important role. In 50% of cases, cybercriminals withdraw the stolen money within an hour after the transfer.
