No sooner had Samsung announced its participation in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in a remote format than Lenovo followed suit. Representatives of the Chinese manufacturer said that this year’s event will do without the personal presence of its employees.
According to the press service of Lenovo, the company has already notified the organizer of the congress – a non-profit organization GSM Association, founded by leading electronics manufacturers. It is known that the organizers do not intend to abandon the event scheduled for June 28 to July 1. Even the fact that the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage in the world, bringing chaos to India, Brazil and other countries, will not interfere with its holding.
It is known that Google, Nokia, Ericsson, Sony, Oracle and other major representatives of the information technology market have already refused the full-time presence of their employees at the MWC. Samsung recently announced that “sthe health and safety of employees, partners and consumers is the number one priority for the company, so it had to make the decision to abandon the real exposition at this year’s MWC“. Nevertheless, the company will participate in the congress in a virtual form.
The Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona, is ranked as one of the four largest annual events in the electronics world, along with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Los Angeles, IFA in Berlin and Computex in Taipei. It usually takes place in late February – early March, but last year it was canceled due to a pandemic, and this year it was postponed to summer.
