Dontnod Entertainment became famous for the serial adventure Life is Strange. However, the creation of new projects in the series is not part of the company’s current strategy. General director of the studio Oskar Guilbert told about this in an interview with IGN. According to him, the team is now focused on developing their own franchises. The rights to Life is Strange, we recall, belong to the publishing house Square Enix.
The executive’s comment on the development of the new Life is Strange states: “Never say never. But at the moment this is not part of our strategy. We want to create our own intellectual property. This is what we want to do. “.
Xavier Spinat, head of publishing at Dontnod Entertainment, added his words: “But we are, of course, watching as events unfold. Because our fans are watching it and so are we. “… Then he continued: “We think this [our intellectual property] is something very important to the company, the team owners and the future of Dontnod. This is our significance for the coming years. So we decided to develop a franchise that would be wholly or partially owned by [Dontnod]. So this is really our strategy. “
Xavier Spinat then recalled Dontnod’s collaboration with Focus Home Interactive. According to the head of the publishing department, the studio is developing many games that have not yet been presented. Perhaps in the future she will be associated with one of them, and not Life is Strange. Meanwhile, a new part of this series, subtitled True Colors, is being developed by Deck Nine Games. It will be released on September 10, 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Series S and Google Stadia.
