Valve has announced the dates for The International 10 in Dota 2 – the $ 40 million tournament will be held from August 5-15. The venue will continue to be the Swedish city of Stockholm.
The studio noted that they continue to plan the championship taking into account the pandemic, so the main goal was the safe conduct of the event. “We are waiting for additional information on possible attendance options and, presumably, we will be able to share details in June.”– said representatives of Valve.
The studio also noted that it plans to change the method of releasing in-game events – instead of one major event, there will be two smaller ones. The first will be available in June, the second after The International 10. No details have been revealed yet.
The company also added a new way to support their favorite Dota 2 teams. Players can now buy special badges and seasonal gear that are unique to each esports organization. Half of the money spent will go directly to the team, and the other half – to Valve. Such goods will be available before the start of The International and Major tournaments. There are only 17 teams available so far, but the company will add new organizations in the future.
Recall that The International 10 was supposed to take place in August 2020, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19 it was postponed indefinitely. Despite the postponement, the company issued a Battle Pass that brought the championship prize pool to over $ 40 million.
