The device automatically lifts the plastic eyelid when the wearer’s head tilts downward. The eye is capable of issuing a warning sound if it “sees” a danger at a distance of up to a meter ahead. This, in theory, should help users navigate the street, while typing text messages or scrolling through the Instagram feed.
The designer also shared his predictions about the future of people. He believes that the constant use of smartphones will affect a person’s appearance. “By using our smartphones in the wrong posture, our cervical vertebrae move forward, which leads to turtle neck syndrome, and the little fingers on which the phone rests bend,” said the designer.
The eye-shaped device uses an Arduino microcontroller and various sensors.
