Today SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, once again launched the Falcon 9 launch vehicle with 52 satellites for the global Internet project Starlink. In total, more than 1600 such vehicles are now in orbit.
It is worth noting that Starlink’s competitors have so far launched a much smaller number of satellites into orbit. For example, the OneWeb project has 182 devices out of 648. In the future, SpaceX may launch 1197 more satellites, but this is not the limit.
Astronomers have previously complained about the launch of Starlink spacecraft. The fact is that they are in orbit very close to each other and reflect sunlight. All this leads to a decrease in the visibility of stars in the sky, which means it interferes with astronomical observations. SpaceX has gone to meet scientists and is trying to change the characteristics of the vehicles in order to reduce their negative impact.
