TASS was informed about this by the managing partner of the cloud provider RUVDS. The satellite server is a joint project of RUVDS and Orbital Express. The latter develops satellites and launch systems, while the former provides data processing and server storage services.
As early as 2022, a prototype of a data center may be in orbit. Experts have already begun work on creating electronics. Testing will begin at the end of the year.
The goal of the project is to identify the difficulties that may arise due to space conditions. Also, the authors of the project want to know if there are persons interested in such services in Russia. In 2022, server volumes will not be sold to commercial customers yet.
