Apple has promised to add support for Dolby Atmos “spatial audio” and so-called Losless audio to the service. Owners of all headphones with support for “spatial audio” will be able to appreciate the innovations. These include AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, current Beats models. Moreover, surround sound is also played through the speakers of the latest iPhones, iPads and Macs.
It is reported that the innovations will appear for all Apple Music users at no additional charge in June 2021. At first, only “a few thousand tracks” will be available in Dolby Atmos format. The entire catalog will be updated in the future.
With Losless, the essence of the technology is that it preserves “every bit of the original audio.” Available in 16 bit at 44.1 kHz, 24 bit at 48 kHz and 24 bit and 192 kHz. You can select the quality manually in the settings. This applies to all tracks.
