Roskomnadzor wrote that it found cases of posting illegal materials on Facebook and YouTube. The agency said that if these sites do not remove the prohibited content, they may be slowed down in Russia.
By prohibited materials, Roskomnadzor means child pornography, pro-drug content, and suicide calls.
Earlier, the department turned to Twitter with similar requirements. The social network did not respond quickly enough, and Roskomnadzor slowed down its traffic in Russia. On the first day of the slowdown, the websites of Russian government agencies fell. Twitter users later noticed that their media downloads became worse.
