The state corporation “Roscosmos” intends to use a new complex of virtual reality (VR) to organize joint work of geographically distributed teams of researchers and engineers.

Konstantin Shadrin, director of the digital development department of Roscosmos, spoke about the platform, as reported by TASS. The VR-system is being developed by specialists from RK-Tsifra, a single IT integrator for the Russian space industry.

«Complexes of virtual reality can be used in different areas. For example, various legal entities, companies and teams of remotely distributed designers will be able to work with the same 3D model of a product.“, – said Mr. Shadrin.

Last year, within the framework of the project, it was announced the development of a first-generation virtual reality helmet “Roscosmos XR – 1”. By the end of this year, it is expected that the improved device “Roskosmos XR – 2” will be presented.

In the future, the created VR-complex can be used for the implementation of various educational and multimedia initiatives, for example, for the popularization of astronautics. In addition, the system will be useful in the development of new generation robotic devices.
