Today we are going to take a look at how to enable or disable the opening of “News and Interests” on hover in Windows 10.
Starting with Windows 10 version 21286, Microsoft added a new button that displays the weather forecast right on the taskbar. The button opens a popup that resembles a new tab page in the Edge browser. It includes a news feed and weather forecast, dynamically updated throughout the day.

Right-click on an empty spot on the taskbar, go to “News and Interests” and click on “Open on hover”.
Disable opening “News and Interests” on hover in Registry Editor
1. In the search bar or in the Run menu (Win + R) enter regedit and press Enter.
2. Follow the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Feeds => right-click on the Feeds section, select “New” => “DWORD Parameter (32 bit)” => name the new parameter ShellFeedsTaskbarOpenOnHover
3. In parameter ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode in the “Value” field should be 0 => close Registry Editor.
