Microsoft is surveying the launch of an ad-supported Xbox Game Pass subscription. For $3, users will get access to Xbox exclusives, EA Access games, and a multiplayer game.
Windows Central spotted a message discovered on a ResetEra thread that refers to a recent survey sent out to some Xbox users about the launch of an additional Xbox Game Pass subscription tier. If the offer goes live, it’s likely that an ad-supported subscription will cost $3 a month and give access to a variety of Xbox Game Pass content with some restrictions. It will include a repository of previous Xbox games with a 6-month delay for new games. Before starting the game, users need to watch the advertisement.
In addition, multiplayer and EA Access games, as well as Xbox exclusives, will be available through the subscription.
In October, it was reported that Game Pass had missed its target of 73% growth for the service, instead seeing growth of 28%.

Assuming the table above is real, this subscription also includes online multiplayer, which currently costs $9.99 per month, and doesn’t offer any games other than the much-reduced Xbox Live Games with Gold program . Gold status games now typically only include two indie Xbox One games per month and have been the subject of criticism and derision for some time.
In August, Microsoft began testing a family subscription to Xbox Game Pass, but only in Ireland and Colombia. Members of the Xbox Insider program can take out a family plan and add up to four people to it. They will then be able to access the benefits of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan. The only condition is that they must live within the same country.
