Just two months ago, an Intel chip broke AMD’s previously set world record of 8.79 GHz, with the Core i9-13900K running at 8.8 GHz. The not yet officially presented Core i9-13900KS surpassed this achievement as well, reaching a frequency of 9 GHz.

Intel Core i9-13900KS works at a frequency of up to 6 GHz “out of the box”, but the enthusiast demonstrated its ultimate capabilities. The well-known overclocker Elmor, which works with ASUS, was able to achieve its operation at a frequency of 9008.82 MHz with an LN2 liquid nitrogen cooling system.
It’s over 9000!!!!
ASUS overclockers broke the 9 GHz barrier, smashing their own previous CPU frequency record.

The ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX motherboard was used to set the record, which is also one of the best memory overclocking motherboards available today. The live demo shows Skatter Bencher celebrating reaching 9 GHz with Elmor. During overclocking, the processor was cooled to -250.2°C.
Intel Core i9-13900KS is the flagship Raptor Lake processor with 24 cores and 32 threads in the 8P + 16E configuration, which is not yet available for sale. In Thermal Velocity Boost mode, its frequency can go up to 6 GHz, making it the first processor to officially operate at such a frequency. In Turbo Boost Max, the frequency reaches 5.8 GHz, while the usual increase in the frequency of productive cores during operation is 5.4 GHz, and energy-efficient ones – 4.3 GHz. The minimum operating frequency of the processor is 3.2 GHz. It features 68MB of combined cache memory and operates at 150W (PL1)/253+W (PL2) power consumption modes.
Traditionally, KS processors are produced in a limited batch, have differences from the flagships of the K series in power consumption settings and significantly exceed them in price. According to Wccftech, Intel will start selling the processor on January 12, and its official announcement will likely take place at CES 2023 on January 5-8. Earlier Intel news in 2023 is also possible.
