Mercenary Tyler Rake returns in the sequel “Evacuation” (“Tyler Rake: Operation Rescue”) for another deadly mission.
This time, the main character played by Chris Hemsworth (better known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) has to save the family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from prison. And it is unlikely that these adventures will pass without problems…
The official trailer for the second part of “Evacuation” was released after Hemsworth announced its appearance on April 2 on Instagram. In a short promo, Chris addressed the fans:
“You didn’t think he could be stopped, did you? Tyler Rake is alive. The teaser trailer for “Evacuation 2″ will be released tomorrow.”
Hemsworth’s video does not include any footage from the sequel, but does include an image of the “Tyler Rake Lives” message that was shown around the world as part of the film’s marketing campaign.
The first film was released on Netflix in April 2020 and received mixed reviews from critics, with Hemsworth being praised for his acting and stunts, while the plot was called “weak” and there were too many violent scenes. Despite this, the film was liked by many viewers and received record views (the tape was one of the four most popular streaming films of 2020), so Netflix began filming a sequel in 2021.
In the first part, Rake tried to save the kidnapped son of a criminal authority.
Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo, who co-wrote and produced the first film, revealed last year how the sequel will differ from the original:
“The action takes place in another part of the world. It has a different tempo, a different tone. And this, in our opinion, is an interesting way to approach the serialization of the story in that the second part will be more strange and unexpected, and the audience will not get the same movie as last time.”
Sam Hargrave, who debuted in this role in the first part, will once again return to the director’s chair. He previously worked as a stunt coordinator with Russo on Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and The First Avengers: Endgame.
The cast includes Holshifte Farahani and Adam Bessa as Nick and Yaza Khan, members of Reika’s mercenary team, as well as newcomers Danielle Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
Official trailer
In addition to a first look at the girl who appears to be Rake’s new evacuation target, the trailer shows a scene of a heated fight on the roof of a moving train. While the first film had plenty of powerfully choreographed fight scenes, the sequel looks set to take it to the next level.
Rake’s survival was hinted at after the original film ended, and the second installment will likely detail what happened to him after being shot in the neck and falling into a river. The trailer says that Rake has survived a clinical death in the hospital and shows the hero in a coma.
“Evacuation 2” is released on Netflix on June 16.
