Ubisoft+ has officially launched on Xbox consoles — Microsoft and Ubisoft didn’t delay the launch after today’s false start. The Xbox version is called Ubisoft+ Multi Access and has some limitations compared to regular Ubisoft+.

The Ubisoft+ Multi Access subscription on Xbox unlocks access to the 65-game catalog, but is not included in Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate). It must be purchased separately. The cost is $17.99 per month. Starting today, Ubisoft+ Multi Access is available in most countries around the world, with the exception of China and the terrorist nation of Russia. However, not in Ukraine, where Ubisoft has two large offices (Kyiv and Odesa). It remains to be hoped that this will change after the full launch of Xbox services in Ukraine, but previously, for unknown reasons, Ubisoft cut off Ukraine from Ubisoft+ along with Russia, and it took almost 10 years for it to separate the Ukrainian store from the Russian one and connect payment in hryvnias. Why Ubisoft continues to neglect the Ukrainian market is an open question.

Ubisoft+ (formerly Uplay+), which brings access to the French developer’s Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry games, will soon launch on Xbox – rumors of a potential partnership appeared as far back as early 2022, and here’s the first official confirmation: Ubisoft’s subscription promo was prematurely published in main menu (In the Microsoft Rewards section), so the official launch will probably happen any day now.
At the beginning of 2022, Ubisoft said that it does not plan to launch Ubisoft+ on Xbox, at the same time it will develop the service as an independent one – separately from others. However, a few months later, Ubisoft games appeared in the updated PS Plus subscription — the Ubisoft+ Classics catalog in the more expensive Extra and Deluxe tariffs. Obviously, this was largely influenced by the difficult financial situation and creative crisis in the company.
There are no official details on the content and terms of the subscription version of Ubisoft+ on Xbox yet. Getting it as an additional bonus within Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate) seems like an extremely desirable and generous offer, but it is highly unlikely. There are no testimonies that in any way confirmed this. And the appearance of Ubisoft+ in the Microsoft Rewards section only dashes the last hopes. At the end of March, a verified insider reported that Ubisoft+ for Xbox would include over 60 games, roughly matching the Ubisoft+ Classics library on PlayStation. By comparison, the standard Ubisoft+ subscription on PC includes more than 100 games, with subscribers receiving new Ubisoft games and their DLC on launch day.
Looking more broadly, the upcoming launch of Ubisoft+ on Xbox is nothing more than a continuation of Ubisoft’s efforts to promote its own gaming service. It can be remembered that long before the PlayStation expansion in September 2020, Ubisoft+ entered into a partnership with the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service. It’s possible that Ubisoft doesn’t have too high expectations for the Xbox version of Ubisoft+. Instead, the expansion can only be an attempt to maintain the already high level of distribution channels of its own games.
