Netflix will start 2024 with a demonstration of our possible dystopian future – the service has released the first trailer for the film The Kitchen.

The events of the sci-fi film The Kitchen take place in London in the 2040s, when the gap between the rich and the poor has grown to the limit. All forms of social housing were destroyed. Poor residents are forced to huddle in crowded housing complexes. Izzy is about to escape from The Kitchen, one of the last housing estates in London. But when young Benji appears in his life, he faces a difficult choice.

The Kitchen is directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya (who also co-wrote and co-produced). Kane Robinson stars as Izzy, and Jedi newcomer Bannerman stars as Benjy. The movie also stars Hope Ikpoku Jr., Ian Wright, BackRoad Gee, Crystal, Teija Cubs and Demmy Ladipo.

The Kitchen will be released on Netflix on January 19, 2024.
