The series adapts Liu Qixin’s popular 2008 novel of the same name.

Netflix presented a trailer for the series “Three Body Quest” at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, which, given the presence of a virtual reality headset in the story, seems quite logical.

“The story begins in 1960s China, when a young woman makes a fateful decision that is reflected in space and time to the present day. When the laws of nature as we know them inexplicably break down, a tight-knit group of scientists must join forces with a steadfast detective to stop humanity’s greatest threat,” reads the official synopsis.

The showrunners of the series are David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (the duo that worked on Game of Thrones), as well as True Blood alum Alexander Wu.

“We hope to convey the experience, not necessarily the exact details of the novel, on the screen. We hope that there will be a sense of wonder and scale, where the problems are no longer the problems of an individual or even a nation, but concern an entire species,” Wu said.

The main roles in the series “The task of three bodies” were performed by Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness), Liam Cunningham (The Last Voyage of Demeter) and Eiza Gonzalez (Godzilla vs. Kong) in the company of Jovan Adred, John , Rosalind Chao, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp and others.

The series will be released on Netflix on March 21.
