At once, several reputable sources independently reported that a big change in Microsoft’s strategy for video games is coming – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, announced by Bethesda at the recent Xbox Developer_Direct, could be coming to PS5. Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Hellblade 2 are also mentioned among the likely upcoming releases on the rival PlayStation platform.
Insiders are reporting that Microsoft is in the process of taking a new multi-platform approach to some Xbox games, and the company is now weighing which titles will eventually retain exclusivity and which will soon be released on the Switch or PS5. And it looks like the upcoming Indiana Jones game will be part of this new wave of multi-platform games.
The new strategy with a multi-platform approach to individual games has not yet been finalized, so as always in such cases, changes to specific Xbox exclusives, platforms and availability timings are very likely. At the same time, it is noted that Bethesda is tentatively planning the release of Indiana Jones for December 2024 as a temporary exclusive on Xbox and PC, and in a few months the game will reach the PS5.
Meanwhile, Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush, along with others, are also reportedly being considered for release on rival consoles. And the announcement of Hi-Fi Rush for “foreign” platforms should take place in a few weeks – last week dataminers unearthed game assets that hint at the release of the game for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, XboxEra reports that Microsoft plans to bring Starfield to PS5 after the Shattered Space expansion is released for Xbox and PC.

Last year, during the court case between Microsoft and the FTC, we learned about the existence of an agreement between Disney and Bethesda, which initially provided for the release of the Indiana Jones game on the PlayStation – and then, after the acquisition of Bethesda, Microsoft decided to make it an Xbox exclusive. If all of this eventually turns out to be true and Halo does come to PS5, one can only imagine the “genuine joy” and excited shouts of “Speeeeeenser!!!!” individual Xbox fans with a long drawn out “e” sound so that everyone can fully feel their pain over this fateful decision.
